Provincial Nomination

The Provincial Nominee Program grants provinces and territories the authority to nominate individuals for permanent residency who will fulfill their specific local labor market demands.

Each province in Canada has its own distinct Provincial Nomination programs that can assist in either a Federal Immigration application through the ‘Express Entry’ system or through a separate Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) application. In some cases, individuals nominated by a province or territory through the PNP can earn additional 600 points towards their Express Entry profile, increasing their chances of receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residency under Express Entry.

Under the PNP, provinces and territories in Canada are authorized to nominate individuals who have the skills, education, work experience, and other qualities required to contribute to the local economy and community. Each province and territory has its own set of eligibility criteria and streams within their PNP, tailored to their specific needs and priorities.

Many PNPs consist of employer-driven streams, enabling workers to be nominated if they have a permanent, full-time job offer and meet the nomination criteria set by the province or territory.

The different Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) offered by the Canadian provinces tend to fall mainly into the following clusters:

  1. Skilled workers
  2. Semi-skilled workers
  3. Business/Investors
  4. International Graduates/ Postgraduates
  5. Family/community connections
  6. Health Care Workers
